Not only are our Canadian neighbors known for hockey, frigid winters, and maple syrup, they’re known for the comfort food classic, poutine. The famous combination of fries topped with cheese curds and brown gravy is a staple from Nova Scotia to British Columbia.
La Fork brings poutine to Dearborn, Michigan, offering numerous variations of the celebrated Canadian dish. The Italian, Philly Steak, and All-American are impressive takes on the classic, catering to various tastes. During our visit to La Fork, we opted for the Shawarma Poutine; it did not disappoint.
The Shawarma Poutine marries the goodness from our neighbors to the north with the popular Middle Eastern protein. La Fork starts with fresh-cut fries, cheese curds, and brown gravy, then adds shawarma meat, tomatoes, parsley, onions, and garlic sauce. The ingredients worked harmoniously and had us wanting to lick the bottom of the container.
La Fork doesn’t stop at poutine. They offer freshly-made crepes that you can customize to your liking. Create the perfect crepe by choosing from a variety of fruit, spreads, and sauces. We settled on the Banana Crepe — it wasn’t an easy decision — that featured a divine pairing of Nutella spread and fresh bananas. Chocolate sauce and whipped cream joined the party, making for an indulgent treat.
La Fork is located at 1041 Howard St, Dearborn, MI 48124.
