The landscape of Detroit’s revitalized dining scene has grown in diversity, but options for fresh takes on Chinese cuisine have lagged behind. Take-out from your local strip mall hole-in-the-wall has its time and place, but sometimes a more sophisticated dining experience accompanied by craft cocktails is desirable for date night or a group outing. Setting up shop in Detroit’s long-forgotten Chinatown in 2016, The Peterboro fills this void.

One of our favorite restaurants in Detroit, The Peterboro presents Chinese food (sans Styrofoam containers) in a new and interesting way alongside an exciting cocktail program you’d expect from the team behind the esteemed Sugar House in Corktown. Small bites like Crab Rangoon and Salt & Pepper Calamari, rotating bao creations, fried rice and noodle dishes, and their spin on Almond Boneless Chicken made with Griffin Claw IPA batter provide a variety of delectable dining options.

Check out the photos we’ve taken at The Peterboro, then make plans to enjoy dinner and drinks on their patio or in their airy dining room.

The Peterboro is located at 420 Peterboro St, Detroit, MI 48201.
