Ann Arbor treated us well on our recent food expedition. Our first experience at Aventura was an exceptional one, enhanced by al fresco dining on the well-appointed back patio. Shade sails softened the intensity of the afternoon sun, helping create the perfect setting for us to sip cocktails and enjoy Spanish tapas.
The grilled asparagus plate that our server suggested was delighful, but the yellowfin tuna stole the show. It was sliced paper thin and spread across the plate, topped with tomatoes, capers, celery, and anchovy aioli. Our preferred method of consuming this dish was to slice it in strips from edge to edge, then roll up the strips to get all of the flavors in each bite. It was like tasting the sea in the best of ways.
Not only does Aventura have a stellar selection of small plates and cocktails, they are known for their paella.
Aventura is located at 216 E Washington St, Ann Arbor, MI 48104.
