What a change from 2014.

Last year we attended Beer City Spring Fest at the Hudsonville Fairgrounds to the tune of temperatures in the 50s, gray skies and a brisk, relentless wind.

This year’s event took place on May 2nd and welcomed blue skies with temperatures hovering around 80 degrees. The welcome change of weather fueled a fun-filled afternoon of Michigan brews and good times.

Once again, we made it a point to hit as many breweries as possible. After all, we’d hate to miss out on the next great beer that takes the Michigan beer scene by storm.

Our favorite pours at this year’s Beer Fest included Pleasure Pit, an apricot wheat from Fetch Brewing in Whitehall. It was reminiscent of Bell’s Oberon, but with added sweetness from the apricots that took it to the next level. Guavango from Elk Brewing in Grand Rapids also pleased our palates with juicy notes of guava and mango. Tropic Thunder, an imperial IPA from Unruly Brewing Company in Muskegon, also stood out from the crowd.

It was great to discover new beers from Michigan breweries that we’ve never been to before. Our favorites from the event aren’t available in bottles, giving us reason to visit these establishments when we’re in their respective areas of the state.

We invite you to check out our photo gallery above. If you were at the event, feel free to tweet us your photos or to tell us what your favorite beer was.

Cheers!
