Formerly located in downtown Royal Oak, La Dulce captured our imaginations during brunch in January 2016. Now located in the Crowne Plaza Detroit, the restaurant continues to serve Spanish-style dishes with a formidable cocktail program. Here are photos and thoughts from our visit to their original location.
Unique and quaint, La Dulce captured our imaginations today while enjoying brunch. The food and cocktails align nicely with the surroundings, creating an intimate brunch experience.
The Huevos Rotos dish consisted of French fries topped with two perfectly poached eggs, and a choice of ham, chorizo, or oxtail. We went out on a limb, at the recommendation of our sweet server, and chose the oxtail. What a treat it was. We also had the Millecrepe de Gravlax that featured an open-faced crepe with cured salmon.
Both dishes were paired with a variety of cocktails, including the Burbujita and Candela. We also had the Spanish Mimosa. Typically mimosas are very sweet, but this one was crisp and refreshing, making it very enjoyable.
As small plate fans, we can’t wait to try more of their menu.
