Filling the void for high-quality Italian sandwiches for dine-in or carryout in Midtown Detroit, Rocco’s Italian Deli delighted our craving for wholesome old-world ‘wiches during our first visit.
It is not always easy to find a proper Italian sandwich, but ‘A Love Letter to the Corner Deli’ was just what the doctor ordered: Genoa salami, mortadella, capicola, provolone, tomato, onion, lettuce and, of course, homemade vinaigrette. There’s a certain flavor profile only a true Italian sandwich can hit, and Rocco’s nailed it.
If you’re feeling a little adventurous, explore custom creations featuring ingredients like pan-fried mortadella, oven-roasted pork, or spicy soppressata. We can vouch for the Chicken Breast Parm sandwich (see bonus photo below), a comforting classic dying to be dunked in the accompanying side of marinara.
In addition to freshly made sandwiches, Rocco’s is home to a deli case stocked with fresh meats and cheeses to take with you. Italian staples like mortadella, prosciutto, soppressata, and fresh mozzarella don’t even begin to scratch the surface on all they offer. Beer, cocktails, and wine are an unexpected, albeit welcome, surprise.
